Coach Rob is the owner and full time certified instructor of Gracie Barra Jefferson City. He was born in central, Missouri. He lived on a cattle farm and grew up hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. This laid back lifestyle lent plenty of time for his love of God, family, and America’s pastime, baseball.
He walked a path which led to serving in the armed forces. He served in Iraq, from 2003-2004 under the 82nd Airborne, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Coach Rob was a Police Officer for 10 years. The majority as a Special Agent with the Northeast Missouri Narcotics Task Force. Because it was often times dangerous job, he turned to Jiu Jitsu for self-defense and fitness.
He joined Gracie Barra Hannibal. Gracie Barra has had a serious impact on his overall health and well being. He often encounters people throughout his day and speaks to them about the benefits of jiu jitsu. He believes strongly in teamwork, which has helped him in his journey as a member of Gracie Barra Hannibal and then becoming an instructor. Coach Rob has a strong conviction for serving others, and placing others before himself.
Coach Rob likes to travel and compete in jiu jitsu tournaments. While he has competed in several smaller tournaments, he prefers to compete in the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) who hosts tournaments throughout the world. He has competed at Master’s Worlds in Las Vegas, and also competed in Chicago and Atlanta. In 2016 Coach Rob was a second place Gi medalist at the Chicago Spring Open. Later that year, at Chicago Summer Open, he was a second place Gi medalist, third place Gi Absolute, and third place NoGi. In 2017, Coach Rob was a second place medalist in the Gi division in the Atlanta Winter Open, and third place in the Absolute Division.
